The Ministry of Education has partnered with te reo Māori providers who are knowledgeable in language learning and teaching, are proficient in reo ā-iwi (local dialects) and are dedicated to the revitalisation of our indigenous language. TupuOra Education and Development Limited is one of these providers who will be delivering Te Ahu o te Reo Māori in four regions:

  • Te Tai Tokerau (Northland)
  • Te Moana a Toi (Bay of Plenty)
  • Tainui
  • Taranaki/Whanganui/Manawatū

TupuOra was established in early 2016 to harness the diverse range of skills and cultural capital within our whānau, to support and enable others to realise their potential.

TupuOra is an ancestral family name linked to both founders of the organisation Kingi Kiriona and Te Waipounamu Teinakore. Incidentally, it also means to grow and develop (Tupu) the lives, wellbeing, and success (Ora) of others.

Since its establishment, TupuOra has become increasingly focussed on providing support and the infrastructure necessary for whānau, iwi, and other like-minded individuals and Māori businesses to develop and realise success. Our expertise and passions lie, in the design and responsive delivery of kaupapa that build knowledge of te reo Māori, and te ao Māori.

TupuOra is a renowned provider and developer of teaching and online educational resources provided across a range of platforms.

TupuOra had the privilege of delivering the pilot of Te Ahu o te Reo Māori (Te Rekamauroa) in Waikato in 2019.
